PLC Controlled Hydraulic Power Unit
This Hydraulic Power Unit was used to test prototype components in a purpose built testing facility. The Power unit uses multiple Variable Piston pumps at a pressure of 250 bar and is controlled by a PLC control.
Diesel Engine Driven Offshore Unit
The unit drives hydraulic motors on another rig that in turn drive fluid transfer pumps. Stainless steel variable displacement piston pumps were used to pump additives. The speed of the motors and therefore the pumps are controlled proportionally linked to digital flow control equipment. Stainless steel reservoir and DNV offshore approved.
The rig has 4 test chambers ( 2 oil/2 gas) which are used to conduct a range of tests on the valve seat & body. Each test bay has two pressure sensors allowing accurate measurement at high & low pressures. Pressure is generated using air driven gas intensifier & hydraulic pump units. Gas is pressurised to 5000 psi and Oil is pressurised to 15000 psi. Once the required test pressure has been generated, valves within the rig are closed to contain & stabilise. Data from the tests is logged in Microsoft Excel & used as part of Certificates of Conformity produced by the customer.
High Speed Hydraulic Punching Press
Hydraulic punch press to press holes in long lengths of steel plate. Powered by a single acting ram and controlled by a solenoid cetop valve. The control valve allows the ram to stroke up and down when instructed. The ram is controlled within fixed points increasing the punching rate and operating within a very short window of stroke. An accumulator was also added to increase the speed of ram in order to keep up with the manufacturing production line.
HPU Offshore Unit
The function of the HPU is to transfer fluid (Fluid: 2 %Stack Magic, 98% Water) to hydraulic equipment operating on the seabed. It is a total loss system i.e. the fluid will not be returned to tank and will be discharged on the seabed. The framework is manufactured & certificated to DNV approval. All electrical equipment will be certified as suitable for use in a Zone 1 Hazardous Area. A stainless steel fixed displacement axial pump was used along side an air driven diaphragm pump to pre-fill the reservoir and, valves, filters and electric control panel.
